How to Brew the Perfect Latte at Home

How to Brew the Perfect Latte at Home (Burque Bean Style)

You’ve got your Burque Bean kit which includes whole beans, flavor syrups or powders, and a craving for some warm New Mexican flavors. Whether you’re a seasoned home barista or just getting started, here’s how to turn those ingredients into a latte full of flavor.

Step 1: Grind Your Beans
We ship them whole so you get the freshest flavor possible.

  • Use a burr grinder if you have one.
  • Grind to a fine consistency; think table salt.
  • Brew within 15 minutes of grinding for best results.

Step 2: Brew Your Coffee
Choose your method based on what you’ve got at home:

  • Espresso machine: Use 18-20g of ground coffee for a double shot.
  • Moka pot: Fill the basket with finely ground coffee and brew over medium heat.
  • Aeropress (espresso-style): Use 2 scoops of coffee, 60ml water, and press after 30 seconds.

Step 3: Steam or Froth Your Milk

  • Heat your milk to about 150°F (hot but not boiling).
  • Froth using a steam wand, handheld frother, or shake in a jar and microwave for 30 seconds.
  • Whole milk gives you that classic creamy texture, but oat milk works great too.

Step 4: Add Your Flavor
Depending on your kit, you’ll use either syrup or powder:

  • Syrup: Add 1-2 tablespoons to your mug before pouring in espresso. Stir well.
  • Powder: Mix 1-2 teaspoons with a splash of hot milk to dissolve, then add espresso and the rest of your steamed milk.

Step 5: Assemble Your Latte

  • Pour espresso into a warm mug.
  • Add your flavoring.
  • Top with steamed milk and a little foam.
  • Optional: Garnish with cinnamon, chile flakes, or a biscochito on the rim.

Brewing at home isn’t about perfection. Slow down and enjoy the process, and make something that feels good. With Burque Bean’s kits you’re not just making coffee, you’re bringing a little New Mexico into your kitchen.
